TRADITIONAL ROOF DETAIL  -  is incorporated in all of our work.  Whether a new project or renovation - slate, tile and copper roofing with traditional detail is the finest selection for an aesthetically pleasing, lifetime roof system.  A roof system must be properly installed.  Craftsmanship AND supervision can not be overstressed.  Tile,  underlayment, retainers and properly designed copper flashing form an integral unit. 

DOCUMENTATION  -  We keep a roof-top illustration with notes of work done and recommendations in your maintenance record for future reference.

BACKGROUND  -  We have lectured the Roofing Consulting Institute and the American Institute of Architects.  Earl also teaches union apprentices about detail and snow retention, is a roofing consultant and professional witness for TASA.  Presentations have also been given to Structural Engineering and Architectural Drawing classes on detail that is understood by few and overlooked by many.

STANDARDS  -  We are Licensed, Bonded and Insured.  Work meets manufacturers', S.M.A.C.N.A., and National Slate Association specifications.   (The Standard of the industry.)  A list of references is available upon request.

ENGINEERING - Allowances must be made for thermal contraction and expansion of flashings, metal panels and gutters.  If not properly designed, the weakest part of the system will fail, resulting in costly damage.

TRAINING - Gough & Bros. has a unique apprentice program where employees are cross-trained in both architectural copper and traditional roof work.  This training is especially important for understanding installation and repair of transitions, penetrations and tie-ins.
